Mary

We have all heard of Mary of Nazareth, the mother of Jesus. Her courage, obedience, and faith is exhibited throughout the story of Jesus’ birth. Knowing the story of Mary, how can we apply her example to our own lives?

Mary was just 14 years old living in Nazareth, when the angel Gabriel appeared to her and announced she was chosen by God to give birth to the Messiah. Despite her confusion and uncertainty, Mary accepted the role as the mother of Jesus with a faith-filled “Yes!”.

Luke 1:38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Mary was obedient and took one of the biggest bold steps of faith in history even when she did not know the outcome. She trusted in the Lord despite her confusion, and submitted to the Lord and his plans. And as the Lord always does, he was with her through it all and completed what he started.

Looking at our own lives, how can we be more like Mary? Submitting completely to God and trusting in Him even when we aren't sure of the outcome can be difficult at times. One of the best tips I can give is reading the Word! Seems typical, I know, but reading the proof of God’s faithfulness in others can lead us to trust him even more! Not to mention his faithfulness in all his blessings to us such as; new mornings, a breathing body, physical ability, and many more! Mary’s story is just one example of how when we trust in the Lord, he is always faithful and he will see his plan through!

Pray: Lord, thank you for your faithfulness and love to me. Thank you for the gift of Mary’s life and her example of obedience to you. I pray that I too can have the same obedience and trust in you and your plan! Please help me to trust in you no matter the circumstances. Amen!

Lots of Love,
