As we enter the month of March, The Big Sis Organization is so excited to begin our first Book Study and dive into the book of James! Throughout the next 5 weeks you can find in depth recaps and study guides here in the “Blog” section of our website!
Before we dig in, let’s learn a little more about what James is, who wrote it and why. The book of James was written by James, the brother of Jesus. Weird enough, James was not a follower of Christ towards the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. Later on after Jesus’ resurrection, James became a devoted follower of Jesus. James the led the Jerusalem church and had an enormous influence in Jerusalem. As he wrote his letter, his purpose behind it was to teach the importance of faith, wisdom, and moral conduct. With teachings of patience, joy, kindness, and calling. He highlights how we as Christians should live, how we should handle the struggles of life, and how we can act in faith. The essence of the book of James tends to echo all that Jesus taught during his time on Earth! James brings up some tough topics that we as humans don’t necessarily enjoy hearing, but when we are uncomfortable is where we grow the most!
As we move through James for the next 5 weeks, I urge you to open your heart to all that the Lord is trying to teach you. Let him shed light on the areas of darkness in your heart and teach you that He is here to help you through anything! James is an encouraging yet stern book that we as Christians should study, know, and live by.
I pray that through this month that the Lord works in a mighty way in our hearts. I pray that we just don’t read words, but we read the living TRUTH that God has laid in front of us. I pray that we can take the teachings, lessons, and content in James and be able to apply in our own lives!
Come back on March 1st to follow this amazing study we can’t wait to start!
